Apologies! It has been a few days since my initial post on the #OpReskin project and it looks like I won’t hit my self-imposed deadline (again), but I am making some progress. The first step was to find the right app to reskin. After scouring some of the best app source code marketplaces on the internet, I finally settled on an app that fit all my criteria.
What was my criteria? Simple. Affordable. Monetized. Fun. Oh, and it would be best if it didn’t require oodles of art assets to replace.
As I browsed through the app listings on CodeCanyon, I found the best match for my needs: Whack A Mole. At $15, it was a great deal, and it came with Chartboost integration. It was made with the cocos2d SDK which is opensource, so I don’t need to buy additional software if I need to make any changes. (I originally eyed this Memory Match Game, but a few reviews mentioned it wasn’t iOS7 compatible, so I decided against it.)
Now that I have the app source code, it is time to do some market research and brainstorm some theme ideas. Keep an eye out for my next post where I will discuss the ideation process.
