The Game
The game uses an array of realistic military methods that gives Battle Bears BLAST a Band of Brothers-like feel. Oliver must take out as many hug-crazy bears as he can. Let the fun begin!
The Gameplay
You play as Oliver, a lone bear who is stranded amongst an army of evil teddy bears that coo and whine as they attempt to hug you to death. Oliver must take his customizable weapons and either kill as many of the rainbow bleeding bears as possible within a sixty second timeframe, or he must fight off the clan of killers until they reach him and HUG him to death!
The simple, intuitive controls makes this shooter a much more enjoyable experience than other shooters ported to iDevices that utilize clunky controls based on traditional video game controls. In Battle Bears BLAST, simply hold down and drag your thumb to aim and watch as an automatic blast destroys each advancing Huggable enemy.
The controls are so easy to use that the game can be played with only one hand – freeing your other hand up for other activities, such as grubbing down gummi bears.
Art & Graphics
The graphics are excellent. They portray plenty of realistic detail, while retaining the charming comic-book look that screams “fun”. Battle Bears BLAST features finely crafted trees and grasses for the hilly backgrounds of battlefields and also textured walls and iron welded Steampunk-like indoor levels. The Battle Bears are back in all their toon glory, but they are all rendered in smooth 3D, like everything else in the game.
As you progress in the game, you are able to unlock many cool wardrobe items for Oliver to wear. This added customization further enhances the zany appearance of Battle Bears BLAST.
Music & Sound
The sound is epic! The female robot welcomes Oliver at the game’s start, and then heavy metal doors clank open and shut ominously. The sound of guns, explosions and scarily happy psychotic bears laughing and cooing gives Battle Bears BLAST an inspiring feel for the iPhone and iPod Touch.
Conclusion
There is little that Battle Bears BLAST does not have in terms of a fun and easy-to-use shoot ‘em up thrills. Whether you want to blow off some un-bear-able steam (had to folks!), entertain yourself while in line at the bank, or just have a good time, Battle Bears BLAST is a must play mobile game.
